Calhoun County Retired School Employees met at Calhoun County Park's Heritage Village for AARP's 9th annual Day of Service.
The choice of September 11th as the day of service reflects on the roots of this national effort, when it was launched soon after the tragic events in 2001.
The date also coincides with the National Day of Service that was established by the recent Kennedy Serve America Act.
