CHS VOLLEYBALL HOSTS ROANE COUNTY

Submitted by Kelley Houchin Calhoun High School's Volleyball team hosted the Roane County Lady Raiders in a LKC South match last night at Mt. Zion. Calhoun varsity won the match in four sets 25-14, 25-22, 20-25, 25-11. Scoring service points for Calhoun: Ashley Houchin 20 points, 9 aces; Rochelle Gerwig 19, (3); Amber Wilford 9, (2); Jordan Mace 5; Karissa Reip 4, (2); and Michelle Hall 3. Setting: Houchin 70 sets; 20 assists. Hitting: Wilford 25 attacks, 10 kills; Taylor Green 18, (5); Karissa Reip 15, (4); Mace 8, (3), Gerwig 7, (1). Blocks: Wilford 13. Digs: Gerwig 8, Houchin 5; Reip 5; Mace 3, Hall 2. Calhoun's JV fell to Roane 25-13 and 25-19. Scoring for Calhoun: Brooke Manns 12 points, 6 aces; Kristyn Starcher 4, 2 aces; Hannah Peck 2 points, 2 aces; Maria Klingshirn 1; and Rachelle Murphy 1. CHS Varsity travels to Summersville on Saturday to play in the Nicholas County Invitational. Both Varsity and JV will be in action next Thursday when Calhoun hosts Braxton County on September 17. JV play begins at 6:00 p.m.
