CALHOUN DOG TAX ALERT

Robert Groves, Animal Control Officer for Calhoun County wants to remind people that dog taxes are now due. Tags can be picked up at the Assessor's Office for $3 per dog. If dogs are not tagged and vaccinated, the owner may be subject to penalties. Dog tax money is used for animal control. West Virginia Code says any person who owns, keeps, or harbors a dog, or who owns or operates a kennel, and who fails, refuses or neglects to register such dog or kennel, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than twenty-five nor more than one hundred dollars.
