Glenville, WV - A former Gilmer County shoe factory will soon be the new home of training for not only Glenville State College criminal justice students but also criminal justice professionals from throughout West Virginia.

The public is invited to attend the dedication ceremony for the Morris Criminal Justice Training Center. The event will take place Monday, August 31st at 3:00 p.m. near the college's main campus.

The Morris Center is a joint partnership between Glenville State College and the West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety (DMAPS). Governor Joe Manchin and DMAPS Cabinet Secretary James Spears will join Glenville State College President Peter Barr and project benefactors Ike and Sue Morris of Glenville for the ribbon cutting. Barr said, "This collaboration between public and private sectors will positively impact the college and our new criminal justice degree program as well as law enforcement agencies across the state."

The dedication ceremony will also include the Presentation of the Colors by the Division of Corrections, the Regional Jail Authority, and the Division of Juvenile Services. West Virginia Division of Culture and History Commissioner Randall Reid-Smith will sing the National Anthem.

Tours of the facility and a reception will follow the dedication with displays and demonstrations by the Division of Juvenile Services, Regional Jail Authority, Division of Corrections, and GSC Criminal Justice students. For more information, call (304) 462-4110.
