Mildred D. Mayne, 89 - Cottageville

Mildred D. Mayne, 89, of Cottageville, West Virginia, formerly of Spencer, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009, in Eldercare of West Virginia, Ripley.

She was born Thursday, May 27, 1920, in Spencer, a daughter of the late Holly Benton and Myrtle May Nichols Batton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William O. "Bill" Mayne; a son, Roger Mayne; three brothers, Loyal W., Gerald and Given Gene Batten.

Mrs. Mayne was a retired employee of Kellwood Company, with over 30 years of service. Also, she was a former employee of Cabin Creek Quilts.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Batten of Point Pleasant and John Mayne of Spencer; brother, Virgil Batten of Elizabeth; sister, Audra Metz of Chippewa-on-the-Lake, Ohio; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Burial will be in the Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Zion, Calhoun County.

Friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
