Massachusetts Sen. Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy, died late Tuesday at his home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts
The patriarch of the Kennedy family, known as the "liberal lion of the Senate," has battled brain cancer since May, 2008.
Senator Kennedy's political career has spanned forty-seven years, first elected to the Senate in 1962, at age 30.
He was the ninth and youngest child of Joseph P. and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy.
