TAYLOR FAMILY SUES JAIL OFFICIALS - Roane Man Dies After Intoxication Arrest

(02/14/2002)
A lawsuit has been filed over the death of Roane resident Timothy A. Taylor. Taylor was arrested in January 2001 for public intoxication and jailed at South Central Regional Jail in South Charleston.

Family members, who have filed the suit, said Taylor died after he showed signs of "elevated temperature, low oxygen saturation, sweating, chest pain upon deep breathing and other serious ailments."

They say Taylor complained several times about his medical problems, but the suit alleges his pleas for medical attention were ignored for two days, and he was denied proper treatment.

The suit was filed last week.
