PRESTON BANK ROBBERY - Police are investigating another bank robbery in Preston County, Friday morning around 10:20 at the BB&T branch, along Route 7 in Reedsville.

A black male with a handgun, under six feet tall, with a mustache, walked into the bank and demanded money from the tellers.

The man then ran off.

There were two employees in the bank, and no customers.

LOGAN ARMED ROBBERY - A transient was arrested on armed robbery charges after he tried to rob people walking near the Coalfield Jamboree for pocket change.

Hershel Jerome Salmons, 38, of Cora, was arrested for armed robbery, August 14.

"Upon arrival, this officer spoke with the victim who stated a man in black shorts, a black shirt with writing on the left shoulder approached her from behind as she was leaving the parking building," the report states.

Salmons was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail.

TOILET PAPER BANDIT - Weirton Police say video tape shows a knife wielding suspect with toilet paper wrapped around his head, approaching a man, wanting money.

The victim said he'd had enough and begin chasing the suspect(s) who ran behind a parking lot and over a hillside where feral cats reside.

Police arrested the man after he broke his leg during the incident.

MORE, MORE, MORE MORGANTOWN HEISTS - Police say a robber pointed a black handgun at a clerk Monday and demanded cash at a Morgantown video store. The clerk emptied two cash drawers and handed over the money. The crook walked out of the store.

ST. ALBANS GUN SHOP ROBBED TWO NIGHTS IN ROW - For the second time in two nights guns were taken from a St. Albans gun shop. Wednesday morning, 11 guns were taken from "Ye Old Gun Shoppe.

Investigators are still working on how many guns were taken Thursday morning.

LOGAN MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER — A Logan man was charged with first degree murder following a violent stabbing and shooting incident that left one man dead and another wounded.

Billy Paul Johnston, 40, of Accoville, was arrested for first degree murder in the stabbing death of Jerry Belcher of Crown and the attempted murder in the stabbing of Mackie Belcher, also of Crown.

Belcher was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the men got into a dispute over some items which led to the fight, with the neighbors calling the police when they heard gunshots.

The police report said Johnston confessed that he had stabbed both Jerry and Mackie Belcher.

ST. ALBANS MAN SHOT - A man was shot just outside St. Albans on Friday morning.

Joshua Dewayne Wooten, 19, of Winfield was hit once in the arm by a bullet from a handgun about 2:30 a.m.

Wooten was able to drive himself to the hospital.

Police say they have little information about the shooting.
