Hot summer weather finally came to the Creston area. Up until recently, the local area, as elsewhere had been unseasonably cool in spite of the shrieking of the High Priest of the Church of Global Warming, Al Gore, Jr. It reminds one of the time when the the priests of Baal tried to get "their gods" to show up the G-d of Israel. Everyone knows how that turned out (& what was done with the 'priests'). Some of the Congresscritters, it turns out took a junket to Hawaii, the Great Barrier Reef and Antartica to study "global warming". They even got to take their wives along for the ride.

Those who attended and participated in the Wirt County Fair reported the best ever. Lindsey Miller had the grand champion heifer while sister Emma had the reserve. They & numerous other local residents won ribbons and prizes in numerous categories. Local folks tried out all the munchies, visited with old friends, exhibited and looked at exhibits, participated in contests, ranging from pretty baby to nail driving, arm wrestling, truck pull, ATV and the mud bog.

Rev. Bob Stanley brought the message at the Burning Springs M. E. church.

Agnes Marks, wife of C. Burt Marks, passed away after a round with cancer & other ailments.

Martin G. Lynch reported that he and R. W. Arthur planned to stack some hay the old fashioned way now that the rain has apparently let up.

It is now reported that the new head of CRI (Community Resources) has decided to do away with thrift stores, help for those who are down & out, etc. and focus on building new houses as, apparently, in his world there is a housing shortage that could be solved with structures built using union labor from else where at "prevailing wage". Apparently the board must have modified the mission statement.

Folks have now found video showing that the Won, known also as the big eared one, favored single payer health care as is done in Cuba, Russia and other 'progressive' countries. It was noted that the bill is vague so that the federal agencies can write the specific regulations to accomplish the untimate goal while maintaining a pretense of "competition" with private companies. Those who call for government control of health care apparently forgot why folks came to America in the first place. The Sunday School lesson discussed Numbers Chapter 14 when the Hebrew children, at the urging of the "mixed multitide", suggested returning to Egypt where, though enslaved, they would have guaranteed food, etc. Some got just a little excited when it was noted that there are already written guidelines for "denial of medical service" to the very young and the elderly just as was done by the National Socialists in Germany some years back.

The National Guard has been advertising for individuals who would be willing to work at internment/resettlement centers. During World War II Roosevelt rounded U. S. citizens of Japanese ancestry, confiscated their property and kept them in camps until the war was over. Those who oppose Obamacare, own guns and who were in the U. S. Military have all recently been described as "low level terrorist threats." Of course, maybe, the intent is to only round up undocumented Vikings, Pilgrims and Heugonots.

The price of local Penn grade crude fell to $64.25/bbl.

Anna Engelke spent the week-end in Baltimore for her friend Jessica Potter's Bachelorette party.

Continued prayers are needed for Anthony Cox who suffered a brain anuerism and is still in ICU.
