Charles Leo "Chink" Roberts, 80 - Nobe

Charles Leo "Chink" Roberts, 80, of Nobe, West Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Jesus Christ our Savior, after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his family Friday, August 7, 2009.

He was born October 13, 1928 to Jesse and Violet Grimm Roberts. He had been a life long member of Chapel Baptist Church where he was a deacon, superintendent, and Sunday school teacher for many years. He loved the old church and singing his praises to the Lord, also being with people and the Senior Center. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, served in the Korean War and worked all his life in the oil and gas business retiring from the Hope Gas Company in 1991.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Grey Whipkey Roberts; three sons, Kenneth Lee (Karen) Roberts, Tommy Joe (Donna) Roberts and Samuel Eugene Roberts all of Nobe; four brothers, Lorus (Elah) Roberts of Pleasant Hill, Glen (Ireta) Roberts and Eursel Roberts all of Nobe, and John (Roberta) Roberts of Ravenna, Ohio; three sisters, Margie (Leonard) Bunner of Washington, WV, Theda (Gerald) Duelley of Belpre, Ohio, and Nancy (Robert) Yoak of Nobe; nine grandchildren, Jesse, Jill, Ryan, Thomas Joe, Hunter, Mercy, Rachel, Chris and Amanda; two great grandchildren, Mason Kyle and Kadence Marie; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Loren (Betty) Roberts of Ravenna, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 11 at Chapel Baptist Church of Nobe. Reverends Harry Drake and Carroll McCauley will officiate. Burial will be in the Nobe Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.

Friends may call at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the church.

By his request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
