(08/08/2009)
Schools in the Mountain State will be receiving stimulus money.

The Cabell County Board of Education received almost $7 million dollars as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

A news release says the money will help Cabell develop the latest teaching methods and hire three technological specialists.

Three and a half million of the money is for Title 1 schools, the nine schools are located in an area where a majority of kids are underprivileged.

The school board says 90 percent of those funds will be used for technology in the classrooms.

Each county received an amount linked to their number of students, including Calhoun.

Liza Cordeiro of the State Department of Education says Kanawha County will receive almost $15 million and Monongalia will get almost $4 million.
