Eda I. Sparks, 86 - Wilmot, Ohio

Eda I. Sparks, 86, of Wilmot Ohio died Friday, July 31, 2009, at Brewster Parke following a period of declining health.

She was born in Grantsville, WV on February 9, 1923 to Otis D. and Rebecca (Goff) McCartney and had been a Wilmot resident for forty three years. She had been a cook at the Amish Door and the former Alpine Alpa restaurants in Wilmot. She was a member of the Wilmot United Methodist Church.

She is survived by children, Kathleen Townsend of Beach City, Jacqueline Payne of Northfield, Bub (Peggy) Long of Streetsboro, George Ed (Mandi) Long of Wilmot, Charles (Nancy) Long of Bakersfield, CA, Mary (Ken) Ferrebee of Elmira, WV and Edie (Steve) Widder of Dover; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren, and 20 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Freda Bellomy of St.. Cloud, FL; a brother, Rood McCartney of Grantsville, WV. She was preceded in death by husbands, George E. Long and Joseph E. Sparks; a granddaughter, seven brothers, and a sister.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at the Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton with Pastor Jon Long officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wilmot.

Friends may call Sunday from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
