Elma M. Whipkey Wright, 90 - Parkersburg

Elma M. Whipkey Wright, 90, of Parkersburg went home to be with her Lord Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at the Ohio Valley Health Care. She was born in Nobe, W.Va., a daughter of the late Abe and Daisy Church Whipkey. She was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Parkersburg. Elma is survived by two sons, Walter B. Wright Jr. (Alegra) of Vienna and Robert K. Wright (Diane) of Parkersburg; one daughter, D. Charlene Rowley of Parkersburg; one sister, Thelma Lowe of Monongalia, Pa.; one grandson, Brian Rowley (Tracie) of Fresno, Calif.; three granddaughters, Nevella Grimm (Jeff) of Vienna, Susan Dinnin (Jamie) of Parkersburg and Christine Pittaway (Ted) of Parkersburg; three great-grandsons; and four great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Walter B. Wright Sr.; her brothers, George and Leon Whipkey; and two sisters, Mary Whipkey and Agnes Susie Smith. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Pastor Michael Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in the Nobe Cemetery, Grantsville, W.Va. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
