ROANE MAN WHO DAMAGED WV'S VET MEMORIAL GOES TO TRIAL

(08/04/2009)
A Roane County man who allegedly caused a half million dollars in damage to the West Virginia Veterans Memorial in 2007 will go on trial today.

Howard Gentry's vehicle hit the memorial at the state capitol.

Gentry's lawyer says he was suffering from an unspecified medical condition when the crash happened.

The memorial barriers have been repaired, but the granite where the names are listed is still damaged.

There is no word on when the repairs will be completed.
