WIRT AND CALHOUN HAS HIGHEST LEVEL OF UNEMPLOYMENT

(07/18/2009)
The recession is hitting harder in the Mountain State, according to Workforce WV.

The agency issues current unemployment numbers based on workers currently receiving unemployment benefits.

Workforce says Wirt County's 15.5 percent jobless rate topped the list of 30 counties with unemployment rates of 10 percent or higher.

Calhoun County ranked second with 15 percent.

The state's rate is quickly approaching the national levels of unemployment, reaching toward an average of 10%.
