Doreen Ryan, 82 - Gandeeville

Doreen Ryan, 82, of Gandeeville, West Virginia, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, in St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, after an extended illness. She was born Monday, August 9, 1926, at Walnut Grove, Roane County, a daughter of the late Grover C. and Minnie M. Bays Alderman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Shelva L. Ryan Evans; and one brother, Dale Alderman. Mrs. Ryan was a homemaker, mother, and former employee of the First National Bank, Spencer. She was a former member of the Roane County Farm Women and a former member of the Southern States Co-Op Advisory Board. Also, she was a 50-year member of the Wetzel Chapter No. 27, Order of the Eastern Star, Spencer. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Lakin F. Ryan of Gandeeville; one son, Stewart F. Ryan of Gandeeville; and two granddaughters, Amber and Courtney Ryan. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 9 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Gandeeville Cemetery, Gandeeville. Friends may call Wednesday, July 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
