At least 50 Calhoun youth, ages 14-24 have been assigned to work crews around the county.

Workforce WV's summer work program started Monday, with each crew supervised.

Crews are currently working at the courthouse, Town of Grantsville, Calhoun County Park, Minnie Hamilton Health System and Calhoun Middle-High School.

Calhoun had the highest number of applications in Workforce's region.

The Summer Youth Program is funded through the American Recovery Act of 2009.

Participants will receive an hourly work rate of $7.25 per hour for a minimum of 30 hours a week for six weeks at the designated work sites.

Applicants had to meet certain income levels as well as meet program eligibility requirements.
