Delbert E. Wilkinson, 91 - Sandyville

Delbert E. Wilkinson, 91, of Sandyville, West Virginia went to be with the Lord Monday, June 22, 2009, at Eldercare of West Virginia, Ripley, following a long illness.

He was born February 24, 1918, in Jackson County, a son of the late John R. and Lizzie Kittle Wilkinson. He was a laborer in the oil industry and also worked in construction and was a farmer. He was a member of the Fairview Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clarestine G. (Angus) Wilkinson; a granddaughter, Melinda Williams; and brothers and sisters, Carlston, Orland, Clifford, Raymond and Charles Wilkinson and Erma Fleak, Macel Wright, Zona Cline and Velma Kittle.

He is survived by a son, Donald W. Wilkinson of Mineral Wells; daughters, Doris Wines of Sandyville and Ava Durback of Ripley; a brother, Milford B. Wilkinson of Sandyville; and sisters, Anna Nuzum of Mt. Blanchard, Ohio, and Correne Wright of Parkersburg. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason, Josh and Zach Durback, Jessalyn Stephens, Paul Wines Jr., Brian Wines, Rhonda Morrison and Mary Dawson; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Bud McVey officiating. Burial will be in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
