The Wirt road crew, along with the gents from Heavy Maintenance fixed the slide at red cut just before the Munday road on W. Va. 5 but during the last cloudburst it was noted that the water went down the ditch there and then, where the water line people had moved rock, the water went underground and then spewed out, like a geyser, below the road, thus making the potential for yet another slide. Could all this adulation mean that the Big Boss is about to become a U. S. Senator and advance PR is being put out for the Logan native whose family is big in the dog racing business. It was noted that Sen. Byrd's staffers won't even say now "what hospital" their boss is in.

Alvin Engelke was calling on Paul Peggs who has now retired from teaching. Paul's father formerly worked for Alvin's grandfather on the farm. Paul had less than kind words for the nation's namby pamby foreign policy of being "nice" to terrorists and not saying anything to offend tinhorn dictators. Paul, a former football lineman and Dowell employee, suggested 'forceful' means to deal with the despots.
