4-H GROUP WILL ADOPT A CALHOUN HIGHWAY

(06/23/2009)
A joint announcement has been made by the WV Department of Environmental Protection and the Division of Highways that The Grantsville Guppies 4-H Club has joined the Adopt-A-Spot Program.

The 4-H group has signed a contract to keep an area clean from near the intersection to E. Little Kanawha Highway, litter free for the next two years.

The volunteers have scheduled a litter pick up for June 25 and have committed to cleaning the road six times during the next two years.

The state will furnish vests, garbage bags, gloves, traffic warning signs and safety training.

Adopted highways are identified by a set of signs with the volunteer's name placed at the beginning and ending points of the adopted road.

Many miles of highway remain available for adoption. Anyone interested in joining the program should call 800-322-5530.
