LET THE CAMPAIGN BEGIN - Some Positions Are In Contention

Four Democratic candidates have filed for County Commission, all from Sherman District. One is to be elected, filling the seat currently held by Republican David Barr, also from Sherman District. Barr is seeking to keep his seat on the Commission.

Democrats seeking the nomination in the May Primary, Tom Shock of Millstone, Steve Whited of Grantsville, Lynn C. Gilbert of Grantsville and Rick C. Sampson of Grantsville.

Rick "Bubba" Postalwait, a Democrat, is unopposed in the primary for a county magistrate seat, although the Republican Party could place a person on the ballot for the General Election.

Three positions are to be filled for the Board of Education, with two newcomers and three incumbents seeking the positions.

The newcomers are Donald Harris of Grantsville, Center District and Loretta Holbert of Big Bend, Sheridan District.

The incumbents seeking another term, Rick Fitzwater, Mt. Zion, Lee District and Juanita Berdine, Arnoldsburg of Lee District, in addition to Carlene Frederick, Nobe, Sheridan District.

Family Court Judge, 4th District, Larry Whited (Republican) of Grantsville, is unopposed as is Del. Bill Stemple (Democrat) for the 33rd Delegate District. Opposing Stemple in the General Election will be Grantsville resident Republican Lyle Kerby.

Senator Larry Edgell (Democrat) is un-opposed in the Second Senatorial District.

Two Democrats will face off for the U. S. House of Representatives, Jim Humphreys and Margaret Workman. They will be running against Republican Shelly Moore Capito.

Bev Mullins, Chloe, Washington District
Bob Park, Orma, Washington District

The only contention is between Jarvis and Mullins.
