HAZEL S. DYE - Harrisville

Hazel S. Dye, 87, of Brohard, died January 30, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born February 25, 1914, in Calhoun County, the son of the late Judson B. and Icie Smith Dye. Hazel was a retired well tender with Hope Gas Co. with several years of service. He was a member of the Strait Creek Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon and Trustee for 28 years. He had also served as superintendent, teacher and treasurer of the church. He also was a member of the Knights of the Pythius of Smithville.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wilda Veon Dye; one son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Sandra Dye of Brohard; and one daughter-in-law, Patricia Dye; three grandchildren, Kevin Dye and his wife, Susan, Andrea Gibson and her husband, Danny and Crystal Riddle and her husband, Steven; three great-grandsons, Justin Garner and Bradley and Scott Riddle; and two sisters, Mary Gayleard and Lillion Manninen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jackson W. Dye; three brothers; and two sisters.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Raiguel Funeral Home of Harrisville. Rev. Lewis Villers will officiate. Burial will follow in Hartley Cemetery of Brohard. Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
