ASHBY WILL HAVE PRE-TRIAL HEARING ON DRUG CHARGES

(06/01/2009)
A pre-trial hearing is set today before Judge Thomas Evans III in Grantsville for fifty-nine-year-old Jeanette Ann Ashby.

Ashby was arrested on drug charges, including falsely obtaining Vicodin from Grantsville's Rite Aid drug store.

While appearing before magistrate Teresa Robinson, reportedly in an effort to bond out of Central Regional Jail, Ashby engaged in a loud and continuing verbal outburst during the hearing, reportedly linked to her arrest last October by Grantsville Police Chief Charles Stephens.

Magistrate Robinson, after several efforts to conduct the hearing, reportedly ordered Ashby back to Central Regional Jail, indicating a hearing could be held through teleconferencing.

The incident is related to a series of counter-charges between Ashby and her former boyfriend Michael Martin. The Vicodin prescription, according to the record, belonged to Martin.

Two civil cases are on today's docket, styled Robert Randolph vs. Billy King Estate, summary judgment, and a case listed as State/Richard Hunt vs. Commissioner, status of habeas.

Judge Evans will also consider two name change cases.
