Jesse A. Jackson, IV, 79 - Big Bend

Jesse A. Jackson, IV, 79 of Big Bend, West Virginia, passed away May 29, 2009 at his home.

He was born July 23, 1929 in Calhoun County, a son of the late Jesse A.. Jackson, III and Mildred Marshall Jackson. He was a 1947 graduate of Calhoun High School and was retired from Consolidated Natural Gas-Dominion Hope with 47 1/2 years service. He was a Staff Sgt. in the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He was the owner, operator of Jackson Transport, leased to Cheetah Transportation. He was a member of Kentucky Colonels and was a member of Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Bower Jackson; daughters Joan Jackson (Ken Jarrett) and Alice Ullum (Dick); granddaughter, Sara Stalnaker (Mike); great grandsons, Brandon Kyle Stalnaker, Matthew Ryan Stalnaker, Andrew Cain Stalnaker.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, June 1 at Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church at 329 Main Street Grantsville, WV. Rev. Mary Zimmer will officiate. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery at Grantsville with Military Graveside Rites.

Friends may call at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons or Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church, PO Box 617, Grantsville, WV 26147.

Stump Funeral Home of Grantsville is in charge of arrangements.
