Glenville, WV - In the fall of 2008 the Glenville State College Call-Upon Campaign began with three goals: reconnect the college with GSC Alumni, enhance the team-building and communication skills of the Call-Upon team known as the Call-Stars, and raise money in support of the college's 'Transforming Lives Now' capital campaign.

After just nine months in operation, the Call-Stars have met or surpassed each of those goals.

Twenty highly motivated Glenville State College students coached by Dr. Bob Henry Baber, GSC Major Gifts Officer, make up the Call-Star team.

Working from a list of over eleven thousand Alumni, the Call-Stars reconnected with thousands of former students who shared memories of their GSC experiences, how the college has impacted their lives, and what exciting things are happening at GSC today. To date, the campaign has raised over $75,000.

"Given the current economic climate in the country, it is miraculous that the team members were able to reach their goal. It is a credit to the enthusiasm of the Call-Stars and the generosity of the Alumni. Reconnecting with so many former Pioneers is as important to the campaign as the amount of money that we raised. Both are vital to the continued growth of Glenville State College," said Baber.

This is the first time in many years that a telephone campaign has been conducted at GSC. The Call-Upon Campaign will continue with the start of the fall 2009 semester. The Call-Stars will have a new call center located in Louis Bennett Hall with ten state-of-the art call stations.
