He was born Thursday, March 18, 1928, at Spencer, West Virginia, a son of the late Dewey and Kathleen Walls Tanner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Sharp, Wilda McClung and Mildred Richman; and one brother, Grover Tanner.

Bill was an employee of Asplundh and an Army veteran of the Viet Nam War.

Survivors include his wife, Patti of McConnellsville; children, Denise Tanner of Spencer, Regina Jurkovich of Amma, William Tanner of Ravenna, Ohio, David Harold of McConnellsville, Sheri Koon-Tanner of Spencer and Holli Harold of Middletown, Ohio; five brothers, Jack Tanner of Pomeroy, Ohio, Don Tanner, Orval Tanner and Dewey Tanner all of Spencer, Roger Tanner of McConnellsville, Ohio; three sisters, Rose Heath of Windsor, Ohio, Shirley Keener of Spencer and Ruby Patty of Leroy.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
