MORE WV NATIONAL GUARD HEADED TO IRAQ

(05/27/2009)
More than 170 members of the 115th Engineer Company with the West Virginia Army National Guard will leave Harrison County for training at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.

Call-ups and the Iraq War have essentially been dropped from the TV news cycle for the past year.

The unit received a sendoff ceremony yesterday at Clarksburg's North Central West Virginia Regional Airport.

This is the first deployment for the 115th, but many of its members have served in the Middle East.

The 115th was created three years ago as part of a reorganization for the 1092nd Engineer Battalion.

They will be stationed in Iraq for at least a year.
