CONSTRUCTION BIDS WILL BE LET FOR CALHOUN'S $5.2 MIL WATER PROJECT - Construction Could Start In October

(05/22/2009)
Good news for Calhoun's 29-mile $5.2 million water extension project.

Following a delay in 2008, the Mt. Zion Public Service District has received authorization from USDA-Rural Development to advertise for construction bids.

Tim Meeks with the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council, said "After talking with the project engineer, it appears that we will be advertising the first two weeks of June and opening bids around the middle of July."

Meeks said if all goes well, the construction contracts could be awarded in September and construction would begin in October, 2009.

The water line extension covers an area from Russett to Millstone and Rt. 16 south to the Upper West Fork Park.

The project will also include the installation of fire hydrants to service those areas.
