COMMISSION SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR 911-OES POSITION

The Calhoun County Commission has a job opening for a newly combined position, the Director of E-911 and the Director of the Office of Emergency Service.

The new position has been created by 911 Director Gary Buchanan resigning the position, a goal for a combined position set a year ago by the Calhoun Commission.

The director would report to the Calhoun County Commission.

The position will begin July 1st, 2009.

The salary is $25,000 per year with benefits. Application is by resume which is due June 1st, by 3:00 p.m.

Calhoun County E-911/ OES Director Description:

Responsibilities - E-911:

- day to day operations of E-911 center
- develop and maintain training standards for dispatchers
- hiring and supervising dispatchers or delegating responsibility
- respond to concerns and needs of citizens
- develop and supervise annual budget
- attend and participate in appropriate state meetings
- maintain professional working relationship with all agencies
- maintain all licenses/certifications
- resolve/improve technical communication issues

Responsibilities - OES:

- coordinate response to major emergencies or disasters
- provide local disaster information to state offices and FEMA
- supervise subordinates
- maintain and update Emergency Operations Plan
- provide information to citizens concerning emergency services and disaster preparation
- coordinate disaster damage assessment, recovery and mitigation efforts
- coordinate training exercises
- develop and monitor budget
- respond to HAZMAT, flooding, and other emergency incidents when requested
- chair of Calhoun County LEPC

Requirements:

- high school diploma or equivalent, prefer additional education/training
- proficient computer operation
- subject to background check
- NIMS Certification Levels 100,200,700,800
- 1 year experience in emergency services or public safety preferred

Additionally, the successful applicant will be required to complete NIMS 300 and APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator 1 within 6 months of employment.
