SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES BUDGET

(05/14/2009)
The Calhoun Board of Education approved the 2010 Proposed Budget at Monday's meeting.

The 2010-2020 Comprehensive Education Facilities Plan (CEFP) was on the agenda.

A number of school employees were hired for the summer program.

Doyle Hupp was hired as head varsity football coach, Daniel Bunch was hired as head boy's varsity basketball coach, Zachary Hupp was hired as assistant varsity boy's basketball coach, and Sandra Weaver as varsity cheer-leading coach.

Outgoing board member Mike Wilson commended Arnoldsburg principal Bryan Sterns and staff for their efforts in preparing for the flood at Arnoldsburg School.

Wilson said he received numerous calls from the public wishing to express their praise to the staff for their labors in getting the school prepared for the flooding and the cleanup to follow.

School board president Cynthia Dale thanked the Calhoun Middle-High School staff for the presentation about student controlled substance use, saying "It was enlightening and informative."

Dale asked superintendent Propst to prepare a policy for flood days and present the information at the next board meeting.

Board members expressed their appreciation for a student presentation, "Our Trip Around the World".

The next board meeting is set for June 8 at 7 p.m.
