HEADS UP GOLFERS - Golf Course Expert Visiting Calhoun Park Saturday

(05/13/2009)
Saturday offers a fantastic opportunity for local golf enthusiasts to show their support for a proposed golf improvement project at Calhoun County Park.

Interested individuals should come to the park at 1:00 p.m. to meet certified golfing instructor, Henry van Antwerp (shown left), who is visiting Calhoun County Park to make recommendations for improvements, renovations, and expansion of the current greens.

Mr. van Antwerp is a native of South Africa who now hails from Jupiter, Florida and is a sales associate with Synthetic Turf International.

He has over 23 years experience in golf course construction, including the installation of over 400 putting green facilities.

Mr. van Antwerp has donated his time and considerable experience to help bring the park greens to life.

Local resident Tom Fluharty, an avid golfer himself, will be coordinating Mr. van Antwerp's visit and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Tom can be reached at 304-354-6987 to learn more.

There will also be a brief tour of the park greens Friday afternoon.

Park board members say the proposed project would be a great boost to Calhoun.
