INTOXICATED MAN ALLEGEDLY INFLICTS BLOW TO PREGNANT WOMAN

(05/11/2009)
Police responded Sunday night to what was described as a physical assault on a 23-year-old pregnant woman by either her boyfriend or husband.

Calhoun EMS transported the woman to Minnie Hamilton Health System about 9:30 p.m., reportedly suffering from one or more blows to her pregnant abdomen, allegedly inflicted by the assailant.

Reports indicated she was 13-14 weeks pregnant.

It was unclear whether or not the assailant, described as highly intoxicated, was at the residence when the officer arrived.

Calhoun Deputy Sheriff Jeff Starcher responded to a 911 call for help, a residence on a side road, a short distance off Norman Ridge.

An earlier 911 call was received to the same location, a report of intoxicated individuals engaged in fighting.

Deputy Starcher was also dispatched to a Minnora residence at Taylor Bottom, regarding a domestic dispute between a husband and wife.

A 911 report Saturday evening indicated Deputy Starcher stopped a vehicle near Stinson being driven by a 10-year-old.
