Richard Jack Newell, 72 - Munday

Richard Jack Newell, 72, of Munday, West Virginia, passed away May 6, 2009 at Charleston Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born October 14, 1936, the son of the late Carmel and Edith Rose Newell.

Jack worked in the oil fields of West Virginia and Ohio for most of his career, retiring from Ace Oil Services, Parkersburg, WV in 1994. He was a long time member of the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church of Big Bend, West Virginia, where he served as Sunday School teacher for several years.

Surviving are wife of 52 years, Donna (Parks) Newell; two sons, Richard (Misty) Newell of Coolville, Ohio and Jonathan (Leann) Newell of Big Bend; two daughters, Carolyn (Jim) Lemon and Kathy (Vernon) Walker both of Munday.

Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Jacqulyn (Mark) Thatcher, Kyle Newell, Curtis Lemon, Amos and Eli Walker and Hannah Newell; four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Racquel and Wayland Thatcher and Kayleigh Walker and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only sibling, a sister, Tessalene Powell.

Graveside services will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, May 9 at Big Bend Cemetery. David Carpenter will officiate.

Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, is in charge of arrangements.
