Heavy rain on top of the rain-soaked earth is causing some serious flooding in southern Calhoun after two inches of rainfall overnight and this morning.

Water is blocking Rt. 16 south from the Arnoldsburg Y, with several families removing their belongings along the West Fork.

County school personnel elevated the contents of Arnoldsburg Elementary School this morning, and entrance ways have been sand bagged.

"It may not get in the school, but thinking about that later just doesn't work," said Principal Bryan Sterns.

Water is in the Sugar Shack at the Arnoldsburg Y, with the owners working frantically to keep water out of the building.

Several other areas in southern Calhoun are reporting record water.

The Beech area is flooded in some places hill to hill, with some residents reporting it is the worst flooding in years.
