Sandra Lee Richards, a 5th grade student at Calhoun Middle-High School, has been selected as a state finalist in the 2009 Pre-Teen West Virginia Scholarship and Recognition Program.

The program recognizes young ladies academic and personal achievement. Sandra has been an Honor Roll student since beginning school. She has been on the track team and a member of the Chamber Choir at Emerson Elementary in Parkersburg and Youth Cheerleading in Calhoun County.

She has volunteered with the Furr-Y Friends Spay-Neuter Group for the last couple of years. She is a very intelligent young lady who will go far. She realizes how important her academic achievements are.

Individuals or businesses interested in sponsoring Sandra would be greatly appreciated. Ten sponsors will be listed by her name in the program book at the event. Sandra's family and friends congratulate her and say they are "Extremely proud of her." They would also like to thank whomever nominated Sandra for this outstanding honor.
