Verlie Mae Cross, 90, of Flower Mound, Texas, formerly of Spencer, WV and
Washington, WV, died January 20, 2002, at the Lake Village Nursing
Home of Lewisville, Texas, after an extended illness.
She was born July 17, 1911, in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late Jonas and
Genevia Kuhn Alford. She formerly worked at the Spencer State Hospital and
enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She was a member of the Washington United
Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Edna and Charles Kiser of Flower
Mound; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lynette Cross of Morgantown, WV;
one sister, Amy Thomas of Nitro, WV; four grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B.E. Cross in 1977; three
sisters and five brothers.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home of Spencer.
Rev. Leon Strickland will officiate. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery of
Spencer. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. |
