FIGHT NIGHT IN MINNORA-CHLOE AREA - One Woman Arrested

(04/17/2009)
It was a night and morning of fighting and feuding in the Minnora-Chloe area, with the Calhoun Sheriff's Department responding to the incidents.

Calhoun Sheriff Allen Parsons, Chief Deputy Carl Ballengee, deputies C. D. Smith and Jeff Starcher responded about 2 a.m. to an initial 911 call at Minnora where the caller said gunshots were heard.

Parsons said "A party around a bon-fire ended in some fighting," in an area locally called Taylor Bottom along Rt. 16 behind the Minnora church, indicating drinking was involved.

A later report said the gunshot sound was linked to the "banging of a shovel."

The sheriff's department returned to the same location at 10:30 a.m. to what appeared to be a continuing dispute.

Parsons said arrests could be pending in the matter.

Officers also responded to Cadle Run at 2:30 a.m. near the Stinson General Store, where a dispute ended in the arrest of 27-year-old Teresa Dawn Copen, who was taken to Central Regional Jail, charged with domestic battery and obstructing an officer.

Cpl. 1st Class Jeff Hunt also responded.
