ARSON SUSPECTED IN RITCHIE FIRE FATALITY

A fire fatality Saturday in Ritchie County could be related to arson. The state Fire Marshal's Office is calling the fire suspicious. Dead is 57-year-old Terry Echard. Assistant state Fire Marshal Mackey Ayersman says Echard died when his mobile home caught fire around 1:20 p.m. Saturday. Neighbors extinguished the fire before firemen arrived. Ayersman said Echard suffered from multiple sclerosis and had difficulty walking. His body was sent to the state medical examiner's office in Charleston.
