William H. Morrell, 77 - Grantsville

William H. Morrell, 77, of Russett Community, Grantsville, West Virginia, passed away April 5, 2009.

Born at Wick, WV, he was a son of the late Herbert C. and Bessie Mae Brooks Morrell.

He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War where he was awarded the National Defense Medal. He attended US Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia and was an advanced jumpmaster with the 11 Airborne Division. He was a retired supervisor with Consolidated Natural gas Corporation with 30 years service.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Boatright Morrell; 2 sons, Herbert W. Morrell of Grantsville and William C. Morrell of Douglasville, Georgia; 2 sisters, Louise McCullough of Pennsylvania and Audrey Tomilison of Valley Head, WV; 2 brothers, Charles Morrell of Wheeling, WV and Glen Morrell of Cocoa, Florida; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son; 2 sisters; and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Interment will be in the Clayton Stump Cemetery near Stumptown.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
