Irvin Lewis O'Dell, 76 - Amma

Irvin Lewis O'Dell, 76, of Amma, West Virginia, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at his home.

He was born June 9, 1932, at Orgas, a son of the late Isaac Reese O'Dell and the late Freda M. Abshire O'Dell Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Lynn O'Dell in 1986; three sisters, Frances Bowers, Katherine House and Sue Jury.

Lewis was a retired side boom operator. He was a member of the I.U.O.E., Local 132, Charleston. He was a Christian and attended the Johnson Creek Baptist Church, Looneyville. Also, he was a farmer, cattleman and Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Shelvia Jean O'Dell of Amma; son and daughter-in-law, Irvin Dwayne and Cynthia O'Dell of Amma; son, Vernon Dale O'Dell also of Amma; three granddaughters, Jennifer Hudnall of Pratt, Katherine Lynn "Katie" O'Dell of Beckley and Emily Caroline O'Dell of Amma; two sisters, Dolly McGlothlin of Navarre, OH and Carol Easton of Yuma, AZ; three brothers, David O'Dell of Hamlet, IN, Donald O'Dell of Michigan City, IN and John O'Dell of Amma; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank HospiceCare and Roane County Home Health.

A funeral service will be held Friday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Matt Baldwin and the Rev. Anthony Ferrebee officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Friends may call Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
