TRADER'S BANK ISSUES PHONE SCAM ALERT

(04/02/2009)
The Trader's Bank located in Spencer, Ravenswood, Ripley and Mineral Wells has issued a fraud alert.

They say there is a automated phone scam occurring in the area.

The caller claims to be from Traders Bank and "It reports that your Debit Card number has been compromised."

"You are then asked to enter your account number and pin for more details."

"This is false claim. DO NOT provide any of your account information. Please be aware that Traders Bank WILL NOT ask for personal information via an automated phone system," says the alert.

Wood County residents have complained to the Sheriff's Department about a similar problem.

When an individual answers, the person on the other end of line says there is an issue with a bank account and they need information to fix the problem.

"If you are suspicious of the call, do not give them information, call your bank and verify that they're looking for information," said the sheriff's department.
