The Creston auction will be Saturday, April 4 starting at 6 P. M. at the Creston Community Building. Bobby Ray will bring double yoke eggs, cheese, pepperoni and other yummies.

The Creston poker run will be Saturday April 18 at the Creston Community Building.

Josemite Sam has been running the new John Deere green state road long arm mower in the Creston area. Things are looking sharp. The Calhoun crew has also been doing long arm mowing and did some "landscaping" at the former Glendon N. Ashley residence.

The debris from the storm was cleaned up at the McCray (Snyder) graveyard. Also the pine that blew down in the former Sherman Snyder yard was moved away.

The amphibians returned to their singing, along with the birds, grass is growing and game is plentiful everywhere. The turkey buzzards have been busy down along the dePue (Creston) straight but one of the birds messed up bad, as they say, and intersected with a windshield.

Bambi and her friends Bucky and Long Prong devoured almost all of Nancy Engelke's tulips along with the crocuses. Crocus pollen contains colchicine which is the remedy for gout. For sure the DNR's venison shouldn't suffer from gout and, perhaps, local venison may help humans who suffer from the malady recover from the disease.

The Loudin family spent the weekend visiting Steve Loudin at the cabin on the former Hunter Pell place. For sure Steve Loudin has to be the hardest working man in the Creston area. He has moved a huge amount of wood with his wheelbarrow.

Eva G. Pennington received a good report from her oncologist but is to undergo more testing and treatment.

P. E. Graham hasn't been feeling well.

Both Bob Belt and Richard Earlewine are not doing at all well.

The Creston area received some gentle rain which was much needed. After a time the river and West Fork came up but nothing serious.

The folks down at the Mouth of the Elk received a "wake up call" from the administration of 'Hope & Change.' Surprise, now energy from coal, oil and gas is not "cool" and, in fact is in the crosshairs. While strip mining and mountain top removal are not universally accepted, deep mining is generally accepted & any new energy regimen is not even on the horizon.

The folks up in Gilmer County made their way into the limelight when they decided to not rehire former Wirt Super Toman who, apparently wanted to close down three more schools to please the wise ones down at the Mouth of the Elk. When the school board said no, the full power of the state was unleashed on the naughty boys & girls who wouldn't listen to their betters. One of the Manchin family even weighed in & one of the wise ones threatened to have the state take over. Of course the state usually takes over when the super screws up. Some who perhaps were not aware are now learning that in West Virginia those who rule do not have to answer to anyone.

The price of local Penn grade crude oil fell $2 onSaturday to $45.50 and gasolene rose to the $2.22 range but travellers report that on the other side of the W. Va. state line gasolene is about 22 cents/gallon cheaper. Perhaps it is the 'cost of doing business' in the state that is "open for business".

A person called Ali became upset over the Creston News. Apparently it isn't nice to make comparison to prior regimes that demonized certain citizens to concentratge power. Of course the hired goons (thanks to Acorn the community organization group that formerly hired the big eared fellow) that threatened the gents at AIG might just be compared to the former brown shirts. After all, AIG gave in the hundreds of thousands to "the party of the people."

George Soros who spent $300 million or so to put his picks in charge of the government has now bragged that he has already made several billion from the economic turmoil and is looking forward to making much more from those who lost their savings, retirements, etc. Soros' ability to spend so much is a result of "Campaign Finance Reform". No doubt Sen. McVain is proud.

Those who travel about note that malls, restrauants & roads are full of customers & travellers who, apparently, decided not to participate in Obama's depression. In fact help wanted signs were even seen in Flatwoods. Meanwhile Mrs. Pelosi still wants to bring in more illegal aliens to "take jobs Americans won't do". Apparently some of those jobs include the importation of large caches of drugs with resultant violence, kidnappings, etc. Across the nation there have been several tea parties over the spending of trillions & trillions & the resultant worry over the currency. A tea party will be held on April 15 at the capitol down at the Mouth of the Elk.
