METH LAB BUST AT MOTEL 79 AT BURNSVILLE - Motel Evacuated, Two Arrested

(03/27/2009)
Police in Braxton County have reportedly evacuated Motel 79 in Burnsville after a meth lab was found in one of its rooms, reportedly inside an efficiency apartment.

31-year-old Amanda Simms and 33-year-old Benjamin Childers were taken to Central Regional Jail.

They're charged with operating a drug lab, with bonds set at $25,000.

The Braxton County Sheriff's Department and the State Police assisted the Burnsville Police in making the arrests.

Burnsville residents told the Herald a number of police officers, ambulances and a fire department was summoned to the motel related to the incident.

The motel is located about two blocks from I-79.

Unconfirmed reports say a 19-year-old Burnsville youth has likely died of a drug overdose.
