POWER COMPANY'S 43% INCREASE WILL BE DECIDED IN DECEMBER

(03/27/2009)
It has been a take-your-breath-away rate hike.

American Electric Power will have to wait until December for a decision on their request to raise rates by 43 percent over three years.

West Virginia's PSC says it needs more time to consider the request.

The electric outfit is seeking the increase to cover higher coal and purchased power prices.

AEP says they won't profit from the $442 million in additional revenue.
