Minnie Hamilton Health System is pleased to announce they are offering a new service for our diabetic patients. Medical Group Visits are designed around the concept of bringing people with chronic diseases together in a group setting to learn from and support one another. The overall goal of Medical Group Visits is to provide a unique way to deliver high quality medical care in a fun format that promotes a sense of community and overall well-being.

Minnie Hamilton offered its first Medical Group Visit Friday, March 20 with Dr. Catherine Grant leading. Each participant registered as they would for a regular visit. Vitals were checked and medications were updated. At the beginning of the meeting, an educational component geared around understanding A1C was offered.

Following the educational piece, Dr. Grant went around the room and discussed individual issues that participants were willing to share with the group. For the latter part of the visit, a lively group discussion was held. Following the group meeting, any individual who required a more private visit was able to meet with the doctor, if requested.

Two Friday mornings a month is currently being offered for Medical Group Visits. One week will be conducted by Dr. Grant and the other week will be hosted by Teresa Ritchie, C-FNP.

The next scheduled group visit is Friday, March 27 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. with Teresa Ritchie, C-FNP.
