Bertha Brookover Hosey, 89 - Morgantown

Bertha Brookover Hosey, 89, of Morgantown, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home March 12, 2009. She was born August 28, 1919 in Calhoun County, WV, daughter of the late Flora Hawkins and Jesse Brookover of Sand Ridge, WV. Mrs. Hosey resided with her daughter, Jeanne Conte in Morgantown and was a member of the Riverside UM Church at Westover, WV. She was a former resident of Grantsville, WV and loved her many friends of the Knotts UM Church, especially Pastor Mary Zimmer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Joyce Hosey Ward in 1990 and her loving husband, Ernest Franklin Hosey in 2006. She was the last survivor of her many brothers and sisters. Surviving family members include, daughters, Ernestine Maust (Lee) of Rockville, MD, and Jeanne Conte of Morgantown; son, Fred Hosey (Karen) of Dubois, WY; grandchildren include Bryan and Chip Maust, Ashley Hager, John Conte, Josh and Caleb Hosey; and six great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Knotts UM Church, Grantsville on Sunday, March 15 from 2 to 3 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will be at the Betts Cemetery. There will be no services in Morgantown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Knotts UM Church, 327 Main Street, Grantsville, WV 26147 or Riverside UM Church, Monongahela Ave., Westover, WV 26501.
