SCHOOL BOARD WILL DECIDE ON TEACHER TERMINATION TONIGHT

The Calhoun Board of Education will be deciding Monday regarding the termination of a county teacher who was suspended without pay on February 26.

The meeting begins a 7 p.m. this evening at the Board Office at Mt. Zion.

According to the agenda, the board will be making a decision regarding the termination of the teacher.

If approved the termination would be effective March 10.

Calhoun Superintendent of Schools Roger Propst said public information regarding the suspension and possible termination will be released following Monday's meeting.

On Monday's agenda is a discussion with the board's legal counsel concerning possible litigation.

The board will also be conducting a hearing related to the expulsion of a student

Among other items on Monday's agenda, the approval of a full-time on-site prevention officer, Shari Johnson, and discussion of a federal prevention grant of $125,000.

Also considered, conversion of IS days for remainder of calendar year 2008-2009.

The agenda lists two individuals whose retirement could be rescinded, Johnny R. Queen, Pleasant Hill Elementary teacher and Patricia A. Hicks, Arnoldsburg Elementary teacher.

The next board meetings are Local School Improvement Council presentations for PHE on March 17 and CM-HS on March 26.
