MURRAY FOUND GUILTY IN BUTLER MURDER CASE

(03/06/2009)
A Wirt County jury has returned a guilty verdict in a murder and robbery case against 31-year-old Howard Murray.

Murray (pictured left) was found guilty of first degree murder, burglary, destruction of property, and two counts of battery in the stabbing death of Brent Butler.

Authorities say Murray and two other men, 33-year-old Oscar Gibson and 20-year-old Corey Robinson, stabbed Butler at his home near Elizabeth in February 2008.

The jury will come back today to decide whether to grant mercy in the case.

Thirty-three-year-old Butler, whose parents are from the area, was buried in Calhoun County.
