SEVENTY MORE WV SOLDIERS GOING ABROAD - National Guard Unit Dispatched

Another detachment of the West Virginia National Guard has been called to duty for Operation Enduring Freedom. Seventy members of the 229th Engineering Detachment said farewell at a ceremony at Camp Dawson, Preston County.

The group was headed for Fort Dix, New Jersey and will then be deployed overseas.

Several hundred guardsmen from the 19th Special Forces group based in Kenova and Preston County and the 157th Military Police units in Moundsville and Martinsburg have been activated since the September 11 attack.
