RECESSION WATCH: WV Can No Longer Boast About Surplus

(03/03/2009)
The State of West Virginia can no longer boast of a budget surplus.

It was reported Monday that general revenue came in nearly $45.5 million below expectations last month, erasing a slight excess balance.

February leaves the state with a $17.3 million hole between actual revenues and what it expected to have so far this budget year, which ends June 30.
